Scholarship

The 2019 Utah Association of Youth City Councils Scholarships of $300 each will be awarded to two outstanding youth members of active Youth City Councils.

Criteria

In order to be considered for the scholarship, a person must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a graduating senior in high school in the 2018-2019 academic year
  • Participate as a member of a local Youth City Council that is a currently active with the Utah Association of Youth City Councils
  • Apply to his/her own adult advisor with any criteria set by the advisor, council, and/or city
  • Be accepted to an accredited college, university, or trade school

Application

As mentioned above, any youth interested in this scholarship should apply to the advisor of his or her youth council. Each council may establish additional criteria to help the advisor select a deserving youth member, but the board is intentionally leaving this open to allow for each council to approach this in a way that works for them.

Advisors should review eligible applicants and then must write a letter of no more than 100 words recommending only ONE scholarship candidate from each council. The letter should explain why this person is deserving of a scholarship and may include endorsements from city leaders and other members of the community, including youth.

You may also include a link to a video (5 min or less) or image gallery that represents the person’s contributions to his/her Youth City Council and community. Please DO NOT attach video or image files to the letter via email.

Deadline

All letters recommending applicants must be received no later than February 22, 2019, in order to be considered.

Award of Scholarships

Each scholarship will be awarded in the form of a reimbursement for educational expenses, arranged with the cities that the recipients are from.
